The Hunger Games

Over the shoulder - Connects the viewer to the conversation of the character.

Extreme long shot - Shows us the crowd, and to show the full area or audience.

High angle - See more people below one scene as vulnerable, shows how powerful President Snow is.

Paragraph example 1
Camera shot and angles are well used in the film 'The Hunger Games'. When the tributes came through and the audience were first meeting them, Over the shoulder by President Snow was shown to the film. This makes the audience feel like they are connected to the conversation. The director did this to make the movie for of what the movie is trying to show, which literally shows they are gonna die, they would use Pan shot, Shaky camera etc. Coinciding with this, the use of settings shows a powerful special place for Snow and the tributes below with the audience. This can be juxtaposed to the scene later in the film where Katniss and Peeta reclaim power by threatening to eat the poisonous berries in the arena.

Dutch tilt - Dutch tilt shows things that are out of the normal - Katniss is out of place, she volunteered as tribute to save her little sister Prim. Katniss also said she will die for Prim.

Low angle - Low angle can show less power to the people below who are look up to Katniss and the character Katniss we are looking at gives her more power.

Mid shot - Mid shot can show more of the character and to really see them being used in the film.

Paragraph 2:
In 'The Hunger Games' Camera shots and Angles were used effectively in this film. For example when the director, Gary Ross used a high angle and over the shoulder when President Snow introduced all the tributes. This makes us understand that Snow has the power over all the tributes across all districts and over all the people. The director did this to give evidence of how he rules the world in his own favour. Coinciding with the shot was powerful, through the voice of Snow, it made his words stand out, giving the movie more knowledge to the audience about what might happen next. This reminds me of the movie 'Avengers Eng-game' When Thanos, the Villain, was having the power in his hands trying to destroy The Avengers with his gauntlet with 5 gems, and wanting to take over the world.
